Are you open Year Round?

We are Open from the end of March until June 30th and then Open from the Tuesday after Labor Day to the Sunday before Halloween. At Shoreline Garden Center we believe you should not be planting in July and August. You should be maintaining your gardens and landscaping during this time. Leaving planting to the Spring and Fall.

What are your hours of operation?

Our hours change depending on the season and the most current hours will be displayed on the bottom left hand corner of our home page.

Where are you located?

Do you deliver?

Yes! For those large plants or items that won’t fit in your vehicle, we offer delivery throughout the shoreline. Delivery charge does apply.

Do you have bulk mulch, bulk stone, or bulk soil?

How can I buy a Gift Card?

You can purchase gift cards at Shoreline Garden Center, if you want to purchase a gift card during our closed season you can go to Steward's Ace Hardware.

Do gift cards expire?

I lost my gift card. Can you replace it?

Shoreline Garden Center is not responsible for lost or stolen Gift Cards. Lost or stolen Gift Cards are non-replaceable.

How do I become a Shoreline Garden Center Bonus Bucks member?

You can sign up to be a Bonus Bucks member at Shoreline Garden Center. We can also update the contact information associated with your Bonus Bucks account at Shoreline Garden Center

Is Shoreline Garden Center pet friendly?

Does Shoreline Garden Center recycle plant containers for their customers?

Yes, we only ask that they are clean, neatly stacked, and are from Shoreline Garden Center. We do not except other competitors plant containers. Please do not leave them in the parking lot, bring to the garden barn.

What zone are we in?

The State of Connecticut has 3 zones - 7A from approximately CT RT 80 south to the shoreline, 6B for most of the state, and Zone 6a in the Northwest Hills of Connecticut. Click Here for Map

What’s the difference between annual and perennial plants?

Annual plants last for a single growing season before dying off. Perennial plants regrow every year.

Is it possible to change an annual plant into a perennial plant?

You can attempt to keep some annuals alive by bringing them indoors in the cold weather, but depending on the plant’s needs, they might not survive the winter. Also you may have success doing this year after year, and then the next year loss the plant. Good Luck!

How frequently should I water ?

Not all plants are watered the same way or at the same frequency. Please ask for information regarding proper watering. We recommend using a moisture meter for container gardens, potted plants and hanging baskets to help determine water needs. For newly planted trees and shrubs we recommend you attain information from the planting instruction sheet.

What’s the proper way to feed my plants? Is it even necessary?

Feeding your plants should be a priority, especially if they’re in pots or containers. Some experts recommend feeding your plants every 4-5 days, regardless of what the directions on your food’s container says. Others say a good feeding 1-2 times a month is sufficient. Although, one thing is certain, you should NEVER feed your plants when they’re dry! Doing so can cause damage to your plants. Feeding when soil is thoroughly moist is the best time to do so.

Do you do custom designed pots? Can I bring in my empty pots for you to design?

The answer to both of these questions is Yes. You may bring in your empty pots for us to design or request a custom design in an empty pot that you find at the garden center. You will need meet with our design consultant to go over the details of yard placement and preferred color and plants, from there we will handle the rest. **Please keep in mind that this process takes 2 to 4 weeks, and is done on a first come first serve basis. When the planter is grown out and ready for your yard you will receive a call for pick-up. Many customers start dropping off their empty planters in mid-February.
